Tahir Mohsan was born and educated in Blackburn and is one of five brothers.

In 1987, at the age of 16, he founded Time Computers, which went on to become Britain’s largest PC manufacturer with a turnover of over $750 million. He has retained an interest in the business to this day, having moved to Dubai in 2001 to develop the Time brand in the Middle East and South East Asia.

In 1996 he was asked by the East Lancashire Training & Enterprise Council to become a non executive director, in which post he remained until 2000, when the councils were disbanded.

In 1998, he founded Supanet which launched in 1999 as the largest privately owned internet service provider (ISP) in the UK.

In 1999 his success in the field of IT and communications was noticed by government and he was asked to become a non executive director of the newly founded University for Industry, chaired by Lord Dearing. Its aim was to use the latest advances in the fields of IT to bring education to all members of the British public. Mohsan was tasked with chairing the IT subcommittee which went on to launch on time, on budget, the largest online university in the world. In 2004, he resigned as chairman and director due to ever increasing commitments in Dubai.

In 2000 Mohsan was invited to attend Buckingham place by HRH Queen Elizabeth II as part of a group of young people who had achieved a great deal for their communities. In the same year, he had bestowed on him an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Lancashire for services to industry.

Also in 2000, he was asked by the Chairman of the East Lancashire Training and Enterprise Councils and Business Link to set up a business support agency for integrating the ethnic businesses of Lancashire into the main population.  The results was the Asian Business Federation, which was launched in June 2000.

Today, as part of Enterprise4All, the ABF covers the whole North West region and continues to thrive under the chairmanship of Mohsan.

We offer a range of consultancy services and deliver publicly funded programmes that assist new and established businesses and that help to build more dynamic, cohesive communities.

In addition to our direct support activities, we also work with many organisations from the public and private sectors, helping them to ensure that their services are visible and accessible to a wider cross-section of the regional community.

Enterprise4all NW is recognised nationally as a centre of excellence for enterprise development in BME communities and has an excellent track record of promoting and facilitating entrepreneurship amongst other socially excluded and ‘hard to reach’ groups.

We believe the foundation of a unified and tolerant society is a vibrant local economy. By working in partnership with others, we aim to remove any barrier that might prevent businesses from starting, growing and creating wealth and opportunities for all.
